Free vs paid FiveM anticheat: what you get and what you risk
Can a free FiveM anticheat protect your server? What FiveM and txAdmin already give you for free, the limits of open-source anticheat scripts, the danger of leaked "premium" ones, and when paying makes sense.
Parity Team
New server owners ask it first: "Is there a good free FiveM anticheat?" The honest answer has three parts. A lot of protection is free and you should use all of it. Free anticheat scripts have hard limits that come from being free and public. And a "free" copy of a paid anticheat is the most dangerous thing you can install.
What you already get for free
Before spending anything, use what FiveM and txAdmin give every server:
- OneSync, pure mode, entity lockdown, request-control filtering and no ScriptHook: server.cfg settings that remove whole classes of cheating. Our server security guide walks through each.
- txAdmin: bans that include hardware tokens, warnings, a whitelist, staff logins through Cfx.re accounts and an action log for your staff.
- Validated server events: the single biggest protection you control. A server whose money and item events check
source, input, distance, permissions and rate is protected against most "trigger" exploits, anticheat or not. See securing FiveM server events. - A whitelist, if your community fits one. An application process keeps many cheaters out.
A small private server with these in place may not need more.
The limits of free anticheat scripts
There are open-source anticheat resources on GitHub and the Cfx.re forum. Some are written by capable people, and reading them teaches you a lot. Before you rely on one, consider:
- Everyone can read the checks, cheat developers included. A public check with a public threshold is bypassed the week it becomes popular.
- Maintenance stops. A free project depends on one person's spare time. Cheats change every week; an anticheat that hasn't been updated in months is mostly a list of old cheats.
- No evidence, no support. Most free scripts log a reason and ban. When a respected player is banned by mistake, you're on your own.
- Performance is your problem. Measure every security resource with
resmonunder load.
The real risk: "free premium" anticheats
Leak sites and Discord servers offer paid anticheats, and other paid resources, for free. These copies are where backdoors come from: code that downloads and runs commands from a stranger, with full access to your server and database. An anticheat runs with exactly the access a backdoor wants. Never install a leaked security product.
What paying should buy you
A paid anticheat is worth it when it gives you what free tools can't:
- Detections that keep up with new cheats, with a changelog that proves it.
- Evidence on bans (screenshots, video clips, details), so appeals are short.
- False-positive handling: per-detection actions, log-only rollout, awareness of your own scripts.
- Ban-evasion protection across accounts.
- Support from people who answer.
- A dashboard, so staff don't edit config files over FTP.
If a paid product doesn't clearly deliver these, it isn't worth more than the free options above. Our checklist of 12 questions to ask before you buy helps you test that.
What Parity costs
Parity is a paid anticheat with a monthly or yearly subscription (cancel any time) or a one-time Lifetime licence, both through Tebex. Current prices are on the pricing section. Before you pay anything, you can explore the complete dashboard in the demo and watch real detection clips.
